A requirement for the exchange of data in the construction industry is that the managed information is reliable and quality assured. Simple BIM is a BIM editor that gives you the simple yet powerful tools you need to manage BIM for high-quality data exchange.
Unnecessary information causes unnecessary problems. With Simple BIM, you fine-tune the model by removing unnecessary or unreliable objects and properties. This reduces the size of the IFC model (by up to 90%) while making it more reliable, and you always know exactly what's in the models you're working with because Simple BIM gives you a preview of the objects and properties to be exported.
In a BIM workflow that exchanges IFC related information, you need to use a language that the receiving application understands. BIM languages vary between different applications, such as quantity takeoffs, disturbance control or energy analyses. The minimum requirement is that the correct configuration and properties for each object type are included.
Simple BIM has the tools to ensure the language is correct and there are templates for exporting to other systems, such as energy analysis software.
Once you have edited your IFC file, you can save the edited model from Simple BIM to a new, enhanced IFC file. This means that you only exchange data that is relevant and approved in the exported model. In most cases, the size of the new IFC file is only a fraction of the original file and it will be imported much faster and smoother in the receiving programme.
