Vault Now Compatible with Inventor & ACAD LT 2012 Suites

Autodesk Vault 2012 integration for Inventor LT Suite 2012 and AutoCAD LT 2012 is now available for download for subscription customers only via Subscription Center.

This is great news for all of you that have either AutoCAD LT or Autodesk  Inventor LT 2012 suites. AutoCAD LT and Inventor LT users now have the functionality to control their design data and even documentation outside of the design office within a secure centralised data management system. This data management system Autodesk Vault provides so much functionality.  Just to give you a bit of a background what is Autodesk Vault? You may ask,  firstly there are many flavours of Vault and these are as follows:

Autodesk Vault

Autodesk Vault Workgroup

Autodesk Vault Collaboration

Autodesk Vault Professional

Now we all have been guilty of making copies of drawings and renaming drawings “Drawing Rev A, Drawing Rev B…………e.tc. Autodesk Vault eliminates the need for this as it is a revision control system. When we edit a drawing we first retrieve it (version1) from the central location(Autodesk Vault server), make the relevant changes and upload. Once back in the system it is given its sequential version number, in this case version 2 .Not only does vault take care of your versions but you can view the previous version and compare the differences. There are quick ways to copy and rename files, modify properties of files and lots more.

If you want to extend beyond just version control and look at lifecycle states, signature sign off and approval process Autodesk Vault Professional takes care of all this. You may think that Autodesk Vault only caters for AutoCAD .*dwg and Inventor information but this is not the case. Autodesk Vault will also control Microsoft office  applications such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access and those documents can be treated very much like a drawing or an Inventor part,  we are not just looking at the design office here.!!

Any questions give me a shout!!

Cheers Ray
