Autodesk Vault includes customer-requested enhancements to help engineering teams create and manage their data effectively and efficiently.

Streamlined External Collaboration

Easily connect and exchange your design data with customers, manufacturing suppliers and design contractors.

Improved Design Workflows

In addition, the 2019 release marks the next step forward with an productivity improvements for CAD users such as checking out files within Inventor BOM dialog as well as keeping the Vault BOM and CAD BOM in sync.

Enhanced Administrative Experience

Finally, new custom role capabilities were added to allow administrators to create and manage additional roles.

External Collaboration Tools

There are 3 new capabilities being added to facilitate external collaboration:

First one is about Share and collaborate on visual representation all in one place with Shared Views capabilities. This is related to review process of design files with external collaborators like customers, manufacturing suppliers.

Second capability is about a onetime manually Share 2D and 3D design data deliverables with customers and suppliers using Autodesk Drive.

And the third capability is about Bi-directional triggered design data exchange to support external design collaboration with manufacturing suppliers and external consultants has been added.

Shared Views – Improvements in 2019 Release

The following enhancements have been made to Shared Views:

  • When creating a shared view, publish options for Inventor .ipt and .iam files are now available.
  • The Copy Link option is now included in the Upload Completed dialog in case you need to copy it again.

Autodesk Drive – Deliver Design Files

  • Extend Pack & Go capability to integrate Autodesk Drive and Fusion Team
  • Add Autodesk Drive as subscription benefit for Vault Workgroup and Professional
  • Leverage Desktop Connector to handle properly CAD references

Collaborate on Designs – Automatically exchange select data w/ external collaborations

Working with Vault customers around the globe, we see that more and more have projects that require design collaboration outside the firewall. They share design data with manufacturing partners, suppliers, and even end customers at all project stages, from concept to delivery.

Productivity Improvements

Today designers spend a large amount of time during their daily work in their CAD environment creating and managing existing and new design. To make their daily work more enjoyable, the design and data management experience need be smoother than ever.

Designers using Autodesk Vault 2019 as part of their AutoCAD and Autodesk Inventor design workflows will notice several ergonomic improvements that may significantly improve their overall design experience.

Reduce Friction for more Productivity

  • Check Out command within Inventor BOM
  • “Ignore Obsolete State” option prevent users from placing an Obsolete component in AutoCAD and Inventor
  • Send Folder Link to share folder content

Recognize Out of Date Vault BOM Data

Customer are asking to connect more the BOM & Document capabilities today when new file iteration are created.

New to Vault Pro 2019 is a capability to recognize whether the related Item is still linked to an older file iteration or not.

When viewing the Item Master, you can now see whether primary, secondary, or design document file links need to be refreshed. This helps you make sure the CAD BOM and Vault BOM are in sync.

More Flexibility for Thin Client and internal Collaboration

One of the key request in the Vault Ideas has large business impact when it comes to internal collaboration is making sure team members outside engineering access the right design version in the Thin Client.

By adding a configuration option for the Administrator to show only the latest versions in the History tab of the Thin Client, the team members outside engineering can access based on the combined option the correct latest released design data only, as they do not have access to earlier released versions.

Enhanced Administrative Experience

Customers working globally were requesting more flexibility for Administrator roles like making sure a new role can be created and assigned to specific permissions.

Vault 2019 deliver exactly that. Autodesk introduced custom roles capabilities to keep collaboration secure across several locations and allow global administrator to delegate tasks like security or Vault setting to other team members in the organization without assigning them to full administrative privileges.

Custom Roles

Vault introduces three new roles:

  • Project
  • Security
  • Configuration Administrator

Allowing global administrators to delegate tasks to key users within the engineering departments without giving them full administrative access. Vault 2019 introduces the ability for administrators to create custom roles with a unique set of permissions which delivers elevated object permissions above the ordinary Designer role. Opening up fully customizable roles allow members of the team to manage Vault configuration and security settings at lower risk than members with full administrative privileges.

Report Templates

Remove any barriers to create, manage and run reports

  • Support Microsoft Report Viewer 2015 Runtime
  • Migrated all reports templates to support the new version
  • Update Vault Client and Inventor add-in controls to use the new report viewer

Autoloader Enhancements

Easily add CAD files on regular basis into the Vault and speed up the upload process

  • Add new “Where Used” Tab to the UI
  • Filter list options (Static list) to easily find out and fix failures
  • Upload status indicates the progress by number of files uploaded
  • Flexible role to run Autoloader
