You have installed AutoCAD Electrical 2018, however, upon launching you get the following error message:

“A license error has occurred. Contact your technical support representative for assistance. To help determine the nature of the problem, the error code is: -73.125.0”

Causes:

An antivirus/antimalware and/or User Account Control was active during the installation of AutoCAD preventing certain licensing components to be registered on the system.

Solution:

Please follow the below steps to perform a complete clean uninstall and reinstallation of AutoCAD Electrical 2018 to solve the issue.

Note: make sure to perform these instructions while logged as a local admin profile in Windows.

  • Go to Start All Programs > Autodesk Uninstall Tool
  • Select all Autodesk software and click Uninstall. If you have an issue uninstalling:
    • Download this utility and run it
    • Select Uninstall
    • In the list, look for an entry that reads AutoCAD Electrical 2018 and click Next, follows steps until completed
    • Repeat the process for each entry that reads “Autodesk” and/or “AutoCAD” (you need to run the utility after every uninstall attempt)
  • Remove these folders (enable the option to show hidden files in Windows):
    • C:\ProgramData\FLEXnet\
    • C:\Program Files\Autodesk\
    • C:\Program Files\Common Files\Autodesk Shared
    • C:\Program Files (x86)\Autodesk\
    • C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Autodesk Shared
    • C:\ProgramData\Autodesk\
    • C:\Users\**YOUR USERID**\AppData\Roaming\Autodesk\
    • C:\Users\**YOUR USERID**\AppData\Local\Autodesk\
  • Clean out your TEMP files:
    • Click the Windows Start button.
    • In the Run box type %TEMP% and press Enter
    • Highlight and delete all files. Ignore any files in use.
  • Delete the following registry keys (make a backup of your registry first):
    • HKEY_CURRENT_USER>SOFTWARE>AUTODESK
    • HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE>SOFTWARE>AUTODESK
  • Disable User Account Control from Control Panel (a guide can be found here)
  • Reboot your computer
  • Temporarily remove any Antivirus/anti-malware software (it can be reinstalled after a successful first launch of the product)
  • Download full installer of AutoCAD Electrical 2018 from Virtual Agent or from Autodesk Account through Browser Download.
  • Reinstall the software
  • Repeat the activation on first launch
