Why Do We Need BIM Education And Training Courses?

Why Do We Need BIM Education And Training Courses?

BIM otherwise known as Building Information Modelling is a software which allows users and companies to manage the information of a project through the entire project life cycle. This means that it handles the information from initial design all the way through the construction phase and finally through the handover process. This platform allows for collaboration between all sectors of the project i.e. clients, architects, engineers and contractors. It stores all the information from these sectors on one Common Data Environment otherwise known as the CDE. Whilst being able to host and allow collaboration between these sectors it also allows and creates analytics based on how the project is progressing e.g. whether there are issues outstanding, if there are files waiting to be reviewed etc.

In early 2016 the UK Government required construction suppliers to be working from BIM Level 2 and tendering all building and infrastructure projects with this compliance, also since 2019 and the world-wide adoption of BIM via the publication of the International Standard of ISO 19650 the vast majority of Projects not only in Ireland but in the world have now to comply with BIM Standards. This means that it is becoming more and more important for Users and workers within these projects and sectors to have better knowledge of the platform and how it works.

It is vital for Users and Companies to start educating themselves further on the Processes of BIM and what is required from it during the project. From Complying with the BEP and what is set out from the start of the project to being able to use and navigate through all the software’s Companies well need assistance with this.

Symetri Ireland provide training in all modules within the Autodesk Construction cloud, from Basic Autodesk DOC’s training to setting up your custom Autodesk Build platform whereby all your Checklists, forms, issues and reviews are stored to setting up your Collaborate Pro module whereby your teams can collaborate in unison and all users can work on the same model and the same time and collaborate with the other subcontractors on the project. We can also help to set up your project so that it complies with the ISO-19650 and that the naming standard is incorporated into your Common Data Environment.

22 May 2023

Let’s begin with a quick overview of Fusion 360. It is a computer-aided design (CAD) and computer-aided manufacturing (CAM) software developed by Autodesk. Fusion 360 is a cloud-based platform that allows designers, engineers, and manufacturers to collaborate and work on product designs in a single environment. With Fusion 360, users can create 3D models, perform simulations, and generate toolpaths for CNC machining and 3D printing. It also includes features for collaboration, such as version control and commenting, which makes it easy for teams to work together on complex projects.
