What is the Autodesk BIM 360 Platform?

What is the Autodesk BIM 360 Platform?

Effective April 9, 2018, Autodesk is making changes to Autodesk BIM 360 portfolio of products. These changes will impact: BIM 360 Team, Collaboration for Revit, BIM 360 Docs, BIM 360 Glue and BIM 360 Field.

What is the Autodesk BIM 360 platform?

BIM 360 is Autodesk’s cloud platform for AEC project delivery and construction management that supports informed decision making throughout the project lifecycle, helping to lead to more predictable and profitable outcomes.

It does this by centralizing all project data in a common data platform and connecting project stakeholders and workflows – from design to construction to operations, from the field to the office and back — in a single solution.

How does this differ from the current BIM 360 products?

Today, Autodesk offers a set of individual (classic) cloud products that are built to digitize and support specific project delivery phases and processes. There is currently only limited integration between these services – BIM 360 Team, BIM 360 Docs, BIM
360 Glue, BIM 360 Field, BIM 360 Plan, BIM 360 Ops and Collaboration for Revit.

The next-generation of the BIM 360 platform brings core value from most of these point solutions into a common data platform, which connects data, processes, and workflows throughout the lifecycle of a project.

Are Autodesk ending the sale of any existing BIM 360 services?

Yes. BIM 360 Team will no longer be offered for sale to new customers after April 8, 2018. Existing BIM 360 Team subscribers can continue to renew.
In addition, two existing products are being re-named on the price list.

  • Collaboration for Revit (C4R) will re-named BIM 360 Design and will include the Design Collaboration and Document Management modules in BIM 360, in addition to the existing C4R functionality.
  • BIM 360 Field will be re-named BIM 360 Build and will include the Field Management, Project Management and Document Management modules, in addition to the existing BIM 360 Field functionality.

The following table describes the modules included in each product:

Trials will no longer be offered for BIM 360 Team or Collaboration for Revit, starting midnight of April 9, 2018. 30-day trials will continue to be available for the classic BIM 360 Field and BIM 360 Glue products.

While Autodesk are changing the product packaging, BIM 360 subscribers will be able to continue to use the products they use today. The new packaging provides BIM 360 subscribers with added capabilities, including the ability to manage all project information through a common data platform and access to the next-generation BIM 360 platform modules.

BIM 360 Plan and BIM 360 Ops will continue to be sold as standalone offerings and are unchanged with these packaging changes.
