There’s just something about Autodesk showcase….

This week  Autodesk (via the manufacturing team)  have been looking at what makes Showcase such a great tool for model rendering. As the Autodesk website states ‘Showcase allows you to communicate your design ideas effectively and facilitate decision making via design exploration and 3D presentation for architects, designers, engineers, and marketing professionals.’

While Showcase is not Autodesks only rendering platform and is by far considered the ‘baby’ of the rendering group when compared to 3ds Max or Maya, it still seems to be the program that engineers and designers come back to time and time again. It is so widely incorporated that it is the only rendering program that has (to date) received and plugin for other Autodesk software's meaning you can export your designs from inside Inventor, Revit, AutoCAD etc straight into Showcase!  So why is it so popular?

A similar theme across all the Autodesk Design Suites is Showcase. The software is easy to learn and extremely intuitive so getting up to speed isn’t an issue. It can also import a wide variety of file formats from 3DS MAX and Maya to Inventor and Revit and has superior real time rendering over the former – it also can import virtually any type of CAD model meaning its not just for Autodesk heads! This means the decade of setting up camera’s, lights and ‘shots’ and hitting and hoping for a good result is over – thank god!

If you have a Design Suite and are not utilizing Showcase your missing out. In short it makes you look good.
