Solution: Fatal error when launching AutoCAD

When starting up AutoCAD, the program crashes with a fatal error (AutoCAD Error Aborting).

Additional Issue Details:

  • In event viewer, there is an error related to .Net Framework
  • When checking .Net Framework, it returns ‘No Version’. – .Net Framework version checking command;
    • wmic /namespace:\\root\cimv2 path win32_product where “name like ‘%%.NET%%'” get version
  • When installing .Net Framework, it’s not being installed with ‘higher version’ already installed error

Causes:

Fatal errors have a variety of causes. They often indicate a corrupt drawing, program corruption, browser was not properly configured, or a problem with the system configuration.

Solution:

There are several ways to troubleshoot the problem:

  • Configure Internet Options as the default browser and remove all check marks from the LAN Setting option.
  1. Open Internet Options (Control Panel>Network and Internet>Network and Sharing Center> click on Internet Options link).
  2. Access the “Connections” Tab.
  3. Click “Lan Settings.”
